friday creative

this friday creative is a great idea from creating keepsakes magazine (though i can't remember when i saw it, sorry ck). it is a cool way to use acrylic stamping blocks to make a quick, clear frame, (i know you can buy clear frames but they always seem chintzy and cheesey and this is so solid and cool).supplies:
-acrylic block (they come in a variety of great sizes including 4x6)
-liquid adhesive that dries clear (i tested a few and my favorite was Ranger's Glossy Accents)
-a photo cut to fit your block

how to:
-apply adhesive to acrylic block...ck recommended applying adhesive just to the outer edges of the photo but i found i had better luck applying adhesive to the whole acrylic block and then pressing the photo onto the block. make sure to press out all the air bubbles and then let dry.
-that's all!

happy friday!

p.s. stay tuned to a few fun website & blog changes this weekend. i'm feeling excited for fall.

friday creative

this friday creative is so easy and so adorable! it's a cross between a photo album and what crafters call an altered book, let's call it an "altered photo book". the hardest part is probably choosing the book you'd like to start with. i chose where the sidewalk ends by shel silverstein, a book that was a big part of my childhood, and it is going to be a altered photo book for my coffee table.

supplies:
-a special book (like a poetry book, a favorite children's book, a quote book...especially compendium's, etc. etc.)
-photos
-photo safe adhesive (i recommend something "dry" like Scotch double-sided tape or a similar product)

how to:
-adhere photos in book as desired and then display.
-that's it. really. and isn't it fun?!

happy friday!

friday creative

today's project includes a product that i truly love for it's amazing versatility, iron-on transfer paper! i really always have ink jet transfer paper around because you can make the cutest (and one of a kind) photo projects like little baby onesies, canvas bags, aprons, tank tops, pillows, tea towels, t-shirts (since i think that's what they are intended for) and really the options are endless!supplies:
-ink jet transfer paper (like avery brand)
-project to transfer on (like onesie, canvas bag, etc.)
-iron
-scissors
-ink jet printer

how to:
*make sure to follow the directions that come with your specific transfer paper but in general...
-choose photo & print, making sure to print the reverse image so any words & text will iron on in the correct direction (many printers even have the option of "transfer paper" under media type and this will flip the image automatically).
-trim off excess transfer paper around image.
-pre-heat iron with no steam and iron-on image, following packaging directions.
-fun right? and it's really easier than it looks. once you do one, you'll be making bunches. i'm starting a little factory as we speak (just kidding).

happy friday!
