friday...um sunday creative?

so i'm a little late this week but i can explain! a lot of you know that my second job & home, treasury of memories is closing so that is taking up a lot of my time. but let's talk more about that later because the second reason i'm late is much happier, i've been super busy taking photos of some really cute new friends! i can't wait to share some new photos soon, i know i'm so terribly behind on blogging. i promise i will catch up this week but now let's get back to our regularly scheduled program...

it's our last week of celebrating september, getting organized and displaying photos with bulletin boards. i hope you've had as much fun as i've had. and maybe you've even gotten a little bit organized. today's bulletin board is super fun, though i have to admit it takes a bit more time then some of our previous ones...a wine cork bulletin board!

supplies:
-frame with backing (i used a 11x14)
-lots of wine corks
-strong liquid adhesive (like quick grip)
-knife
-cutting board
-sand paper
-straight pins (or decorative push pins)

how to:
-cut corks in half to start and "practice" laying them in the frame.
-then cut corks more if needed or sand down ever so slightly until they fit as desired (this is where the "takes a bit more time then some of our previous ones" comes in).
-when you've got the arrangement down, adhere to corks to backing with quick grip. set aside to dry.
-ta-da! now you're ready to use your wine cork bulletin board! so cute right?! and totally worth the work.

happy sunday!

friday creative

it's week 3 of getting organized (and of course displaying photos) with bulletin boards! this week's board is another magnetic one and i have to say, i'm totally smitten with it. i made it for my best buddy tammy t and now i'm pretty sure i'll be making more. check out our game board bulletin board...supplies:
-game board (your favorite, vintage or new)
-tin sheet (you can find these at your favorite craft store or hardware store in assorted sizes to approximately fit your game board...i used a 12x12 to fit my scrabble board)
-strong liquid adhesive (like quick grip)
-strong magnets & game pieces to adhere to magnets if desired
-photos & notes

how to:
-adhere tin sheet to the back of your game board and set aside to dry (perhaps with something heavy on top if it's handy).
-while you're waiting you can use the same adhesive to adhere game pieces (like adorable little scrabble tiles) to heavy duty magnets. set those aside to dry and make sure to space far apart on your table so they don't "jump" together and pull apart before the adhesive is dry.
-when all your glue is dry, add photos and notes to your new, super duper game board bulletin board!

happy friday!

friday creative

today we are continuing our ode to september and getting organized with our second bulletin board idea, (we will be doing bulletin boards all month). this is another super easy one and it's a fun vintage find, my favorite! a metal tray bulletin board...supplies:
-metal tray (look for cool vintage ones at antique stores & shows. mine came from my sweet friend sara.)
-magnets (plain or decorative)
-photos & notes

how to:
-decide which side of the tray to use...currently i'm using the backside (gray & distressed) but some weeks i use the front (green with pretty vintage roses). then place photos & notes on tray with magnets. really that's it!

see you next week for more bulletin board fun!

friday creative

september is here and it is a great time to get back to simple things, to enjoy the smell of freshly sharpened pencils & crisp air, and to get organized. in honor of getting organized, we are going to create bulletin boards all september long for friday creative! bulletin boards are not only a fantastic way to help us all be a little more on top of our to do lists but they are also an easy way to show off our favorite photos of the moment. this one is a cute one that my husband is especially excited about because it is for his office, a dart board-bulletin board.supplies:
-dart board (you can find new ones with a vintage feel or a real vintage one)
-darts
-photos & memorabilia

how to:
-use darts as push pins. that's it!

happy friday!
