for the love of red velvet

as a baker and a cook i try to work as "close to the ground" as possible, with organic ingredients and also minimal artificial ingredients but i have a real soft spot in my heart for all things red velvet. i think the love comes from the fact that red velvet was the first cake i learned to make from scratch...well, the first cake i learned to make from scratch that came out moist, tender and truly edible.

and now there's not just red velvet cake & cupcakes to love, there are red velvet brownies, red velvet truffles, red velvet doughnuts, red velvet pancakes and these red velvet chocolate chip cookies! this is a wonderful recipe from baking serendipity, moist, chewy & chocolaty. they are also lovely as un-re velvet cookies if you feel like leaving out the coloring. i highly recommend this recipe!
