stamping with spray

My bottle of Heidi Swapp Patina Color Shine has been sitting on my desk since I created my last card and I'm pretty sure it has been whispering, "Use me, love me, I'm your very favorite shade of green...". And it's right. Even though ink sprays can be messy, especially in my hands, I just love it. And it coordinates beautifully with my favorite Distress color, Cracked Pistachio.
I created white rectangles on my card front by placing pieces of masking paper on my cardstock and then applying Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink with a blending tool.

The Essentials by Ellen Totally Awesome stamps create the perfect sentiments inside my white rectangles (I actually measured the masking paper to make sure but sometimes it's still a surprise when it works, LOL!)

And to add the abstract flowers, I misted the flower stamp with the Patina Color Shine and stamped. It's a little messy but I love the effect and I love the way it shimmers! To help contain the over spray, I mist my stamps in my paper wastebasket.

Thanks for stopping by and hope your Sunday is lovely!

summertime gingham with distress inks

This card started as an attempt to create buffalo plaid but became a summery gingham. I actually have a shirt that looks exactly like this (minus the totally awesome, LOL):
I used painter's tape on smooth bristol cardstock with a blending tool and Distress inks. I applied tape "stripes" one direction and inked. Then removed the tape, applied it in the opposite direction and inked.

So easy! The only hard part was the spacing, sometimes my eye-balling is better than others.
And I like it so much, I made more in different colors...
The sentiments are die cut words coated in embossing powder (WOW! Yum Yum to say & so pretty).
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sparkly Sunglasses with WOW! Embossing Powder

I saw the cutest piece of art by Jen B Peters that I've been dying to recreate in card form. Check her out, she's awesome!
Jen B Peters awesome piece!
My Card

There are lots of ways to create glittery sunglasses but I have some WOW! embossing stunners just begging for attention so that's how I did it. I mean just look at these colors...
I coated these die cuts...
...with VersaMark and Turkish Nights embossing powder (and black for the "lenses").
I cut the circle into pieces to create the rest of the frames and assembled.

To add the dark pink to the top of my heart frames, I just applied a little pigment ink with a blending tool, then clear embossing powder and heat set.
And I love them! I think I might need to create more with my other WOW! colors.

Thanks for stopping by!

BCRF Courage + Scrape Art

The Ellen Hutson LLC BCRF fundraising set Courage, is so lovely but my very favorite part of the stamp set is the beautiful sentiments! I wanted to create more cards highlighting the encouraging words and I've by excited to try "scrape art", a technique I've been seeing around the Pinterest neighborhood. Here is the result:
Without any pink acrylic paints on hand (shameful I know), I turned to my Nuvo Drops. And they worked beautifully for this easy & striking technique.

Apply drops of chosen medium to cardstock.
Use a flat edge like a squeegee or old gift card (or Disney pass, haha!) to apply gentle pressure to smooth paint into lines.
So easy right? Have a great day!

UNITED WE CONQUER! Ellen Hutson BCRF Fundraiser

Too many of us have been touched by cancer, too many friends & family lost. I am honored and proud to be part of a company creating for the cause of ending this terrible disease.

In honor of three amazing mothers, Chaitali, Julie and Ellen, teamed up to find a way that they could make a difference and honor these very special women in their lives and actively contribute to finding a cure for breast cancer. Together they have created the Courage Stamp & Die Set.

$25 from the purchase price of each Courage Stamp & Die Set will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The Courage sets are filled with beautiful flowers and powerful words of encouragement. I combined flowers & leaves stamped in pigment inks, with some embossed white cards to create a set of cards.

A little more info from Ellen, Julie & Chaitali:

We know that many of you are affected by this disease or other forms of cancer and we are turning to you for help.
