peerless watercolors + bold blossoms

i decided to break out of the purple box i've been in lately and use some more summery colors on this simple watercolored and die cut card.

i watercolored a simple background with 3 bright colors (jackqueminot pink, alizarine red and golden yellow) from the peerless watercolor joanne sharpe edition set. i purchased this set to just "try out" the peerless watercolors and i wasn't disappointed! the watercolors are beautiful and really fun to use. the bright colors in this set are also available in the bonus pack.

i die cut the essentials by ellen designer dies, bold blossom stand-alone die from solar white cardstock and adhered the leaves to the card. before 3D mounting the flower to the card, i adhered some gold thread to it.

and finally i added some gold sequins, because everything is better with sequins!

heart flower

this afternoon's crafting session combined some of things that seem to really be my jam lately - purple, distress inks, lots of essentials by ellen products and flowers...all into one card! and i created a 3D flower with a heart die totally inspired by this cool project from mondocherry.

i stamped flowers from the essentials by ellen clear stamps, bohemian garden set in versafine onyx black, leaving room for where i wanted to place my 3D flower.

next i added some splatter with shaded lilac distress ink and set it aside to dry while i created my 3D flower.

i die cut the small heart from the essentials by ellen designer dies, home & heart set 12 times and folded the hearts all in half. then i adhered them in a circle to create a flower.

then i added "hello" from the essentials by ellen clear stamps, mondo magnolia set. i added some little dots from the essentials by ellen clear stamps, bokeh dots in shaded lilac on top of my splatter.

finally i finished the card with just a little wink of stella along the edges of the 3-3/4 x 5 rectangle & the 3D flower. and i adhered the whole thing to the card.

june favorites

1. ranger watercolor paper: i'm still feeling the urge to watercolor everything and this paper is my favorite!

2. zig clean color real brush markers: everyone was talking about them (and they still are), and because i didn't want to be left i out i tried them too. now i think they are pretty awesome! i find them really easy to use, easy to blend and just plain fun! and i'm really digging the blues and purples right now.

3. glitter paper: glitter paper is just so great for die cutting and really i'm always just a 13-year-old girl on the inside!

4. hickory smoke distress ink: it's the newest color to join the distress color palette and its the prettiest neutral gray. i love grays!

5. mini distress inks: and speaking of the newest distress inks, the first 4 colors that were released this year are now available in minis. cracked pistachio, abandoned coral and mermaid lagoon are 3 of my favorites!

glittered donut

i love donuts because whats not to love right?! so i've been wanting to create some cards using the cute little donut die from taylored expressions. and this sentiment from the essentials by ellen clear stamp love you so set was too perfect!

i die cut the donut from desert storm cardstock and pink glitter paper (sorry it looks so brownish in the photos). then i coated the glitter die cut with a good layer of glossy accents and let it dry overnight for a raised "epoxy accent" look.

i added some black splatter and ta-da!

violet watercolor

watercolor is far and away my favorite technique to play with and this card is completely inspired by the super talented kimberly wiener and the card she made for essentials by ellen may pin-sights challenge (see it here).

i stamped the flowers in versamark and embossed them with white detail powder. then i colored them with clean color real brush markers and added water to blend.

i stamped the leaves in versafine and die cut. i adhered the larger leaves with flat adhesive and the smaller leaves with foam adhesive for a little more dimension.

i added a little black ink splatter because i love splatter! and i embossed a sentiment on black cardstock to finish the card.
