father's day is coming up and masculine cards are always hard for me. i lean heavily towards pink, gold, glitter and sequins. and while my husband can appreciate a sequin or two, or even a unicorn card, most of the guys in my family would appreciate something a little more masculine.
for my dad's father's day card, i went with something a little beachy and a little bit muted. he loves sun, the beach and warm colors. and don't worry, he never reads my blog so this isn't a spoiler.
i started by creating a simple background with zig clean color real brush markers and a bit of water. light blue for sky and beige for sand. i wanted it to be subtle but of course now that everything is glued down, i really wish i had used more blue...
next i die cut the adorable little houses from essentials by ellen designer dies, home & hearth set from patterned paper to create my beach houses. my "surfboards" are the inside of a petal from essentials by ellen designer dies, wild garden.
i added a sentiment from mama elephant and popped it up with some foam adhesive. and ta-da!
xo,
carly
