mft sketch challenge 622

It's Sketch Challenge time again over on the MFT blog! I love playing along with these challenges as a creativity booster and I definitely felt creative this week but my card might have fallen off the design rails a little, LOL!

Here's this week's sketch...

And here's my card...

I started to interpret the sketch and then I went off on a little bit of a tangent. BUT I love how this card turned out so I still think it was a success!

The card is my favorite colored cardstock, Sno Cone, with white snowflakes in the corners using the Stackable Snowflakes set

I blended Distress Oxide Kitsch Flamingo, Shaded Lilac and Salvaged Patina on white cardstock and then die cut "happy" with my beloved Modern Serif Alphabet dies

I completed the sentiment by stamping part of the "happy holidays" stamp from the Cool Christmas Greetings.

I hope I've inspired you to check out the sketch challenge! You can learn more about it over on the MFT Stamps blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Check out this birthday cash card I made...

I started by blending some Distress Oxides inks on a white Money Card die cut. I added a row of candle die cuts from the Birthday Basics Die-namics and a sentiment from the Birthday Cash stamp set.

mft sketch challenge 621

Happy Sketch Challenge Day! I won't bore you by rehashing all the reasons I love these challenges (I'll save it for next week, haha) let's just talk about this week's sketch!

Here it is...

And here is the card I made...

I absolutely see clouds in the sketch design and I even used the MFT Cloud Stencil with Distress Oxide inks on the top of my card...but I also thought maybe the clouds could be snow drifts.

With that in mind I added some snowflakes and a cute critter from the Freezin' Season.

I hope I've inspired you to check out the sketch challenge! You can learn more about it over on the MFT Stamps blog!

mft november slimline challenge

Do you make slimline cards? Did you know that MFT has a monthly slimline challenge and you can enter for a chance to win $50 to the MFT shop?

This month's slimline challenge is extra cute because smaller is cuter and the challenge is...MINI slimline cards! Somehow I didn't even know this was a thing but I couldn't wait to try it!

I ended up creating this...
My card ended up being so simple...glitter paper with a slightly wonky paper bow (using the Perfect Present die set).

I didn't have the pinky-red glitter paper I wanted so I used a blending brush with MFT Wild Cherry & Ripe Raspberry inks to transform some peach glitter paper.
Here are my tips for ink blending on glitter paper...
  • I recommend using a blending brush because the glitter can tear blending sponges.
  • Dye inks let the glitter shine through more than pigment or hybrid inks.
  • And always remember to let the glitter paper dry after inking.
I love the 3x6 mini slimline size and I think I might make a bunch of these to use as gift tags for the holidays. But I think I will change the bow placement, LOL! By the way, I made the bow from white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers.

Have a great day!

mft sketch challenge 620

It is MFT sketch challenge time! I've been known to extol the virtues of card sketches as creativity boosters and this week is an example of what I mean!

But I'm getting a little a head of myself. First here's this week's sketch...

And here's what I made...

Already knowing the card design plus a long nap from my baby girl, gave me a chance to practice a skill I really want to master, no-line coloring!

I stamped the adorable bear & hill from the Polar Opposites set in a light tan ink. Then I used Copic markers to color.

And honestly I'm just delighted with how it turned out!

I added a little snow with a white pen and a sentiment from the Cool Christmas Greetings set.

I used a rectangle die to create three polaroid-style frames like the sketch and layered them before adhering them to the bear panel and then all of it to a folded card.

I hope I've inspired you to check out the sketch challenge! You can learn more about it over on the MFT Stamps blog!

mft sketch challenge 619

Raise your hand if your week could use a little more crafty time? Me too! Please allow me to recommend joining in the MFT Weekly sketch because that's what I'm doing and I know it works to brighten my day!

Here's this week's sketch...

And here's the card I made...

I started by lightly stamping the tree from Mod & Merry in Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio. I used the image as a guide to mask off the tree shape so I could ink blend in Cracked Pistachio and make a background for the stamp.

I removed the tape and let it dry before stamping the tree again with Salvaged Patina ink.

I added a few stamped stars (also from the Mod & Merry set) and a little faux splatter with a pen.

Then I created the sentiment with "Happy Holidays" from the Mod & Merry set and "fa la la" using the Modern Serif Alphabet. To get the right colored cardstock for each letter, I swiped my Distress Oxide pads on white cardstock and let dry before die cutting.

diy cover plate card with mft stamps

When I have new stamps & dies I love, I want to make as many cards with as many of my favorite techniques as possible! So with one of my favorite new die sets from MFT Stamps I created this DIY cover plate card!

The MFT November release is available now but before you run off to check it out, I got a card to share with you!
This card uses some of my favorite cardmaking techniques...like making an easy DIY cover plate with a single die, creating a shaker card and uses a brayer to ink a background.

First I used my trusty centering ruler to divide my card panel.
The pencil lines served as a guide to die cut the smallest Stackable Snowflake.
After die cutting I added acetate to make it into a shaker window.

Then I adhered the little snowflake "diamonds" to the acetate. (And actually I forgot to save those when I first die cut the panel so I had to cut 6 more snowflakes to get them, LOL!)

On the front of my folded card I used a brayer and Distress Inks to ink up a background.
After that, a little foam tape and sequins turned it all into a shaker card with a embossed sentiment on the front (using the Pretty Poinsettias stamp set). Ta Da!
Make sure to pop over to the MFT blog to see more of the new release!

mft stamps november release countdown day 1

The MFT November release is almost here, there are a few more exciting products to share and I love the card I get to show you today!

I couldn't choose a favorite critter from the new Freezin' Season set so I used as many as I could! I stamped them along the bottom and just added a tiny bit of pink to their cheeks.

Then I used the Bold Happy Birthday die to cut a shaker window. I masked part of a sentiment from the Freezin' Season set and stamped it beneath.

I ink blended with Distress Oxide inks on the card front and adhered the shaker window panel on top.

You can find more peeks at the MFT November release on their blog!

Have a great day!

mft stamps november release countdown day 2

There are only 2 days left until the MFT Stamps November release!!! What sets are you loving? I'm guessing the sets that are being revealed today are going to be on your wish list!

How cute is this new Coffee Mug die?! It makes a great shaker window but I also can't wait to use some of the critter stamps to decorate it!

For my shaker background I did a little Distress Oxide ink blending and added some glitter paste on top.

And the new Coffee and Conversation stamp set is just fab! I don't even drink coffee but I love creating coffee themed projects to give!

Thanks for stopping by! You can find more peeks at the MFT November release on their blog!

Have a great day!

mft stamps november release countdown day 3

There are only 3 days left until the MFT November release! I've got another card to share today that very unsurprisingly is glittery, LOL! But it's only a little glitter today!

I love, love, love alphabet stamps and this new Lined Letters stamp set is a stunner! I love how bold & graphic it is plus the line is a perfect guide for adding glitter. I stamped Fa La La La with Distress Oxide inks, then used a glue pen to trace the line and added glitter.

Then I added some foliage with the Winter Greenery set. This set was designed by Deane Beesley, who also did the Pretty Poinsettias that I've been loving so much!

I stamped the bow and greenery bits in MFT ink and blended it a little with water for a quick watercolor look.
Head over to the MFT blog when you have a minute to see more of the November release.

waffle flower 2022 november release blog hop

Welcome to the Waffle Flower November Release Blog Hop! I’m delighted to be hopping with Waffle Flower to show you all the fun new stuff awaiting you on the Waffle Flower website! Be sure to check out each stop in today’s blog hop for fun, inspiration, and chances to win some of these new release goodies!

I've got two quick cards to share with you using two of the fabulous new die sets, my fav Distress Oxide inks and lots of DIY glitter paste!

The first card uses just one little die from the amazing Layered Flowers set but the set is packed with amazing blooms!!!
I started by ink blending a rainbow on my card front. Then I covered it with some DIY glitter paste, which is just Glossy Accents mixed with glitter.

While the glitter paste was drying, I die cut the small flower duo repeatedly from a cardstock panel to make flower "stripes".

When the paste was dry, I adhered the die cut panel on top and added a sentiment from the Sending Love Sentiments set.

And finally I added a little faux black splatter with a pen and a few enamel dots.

I followed the same formula with Outlined Hearts die...ink blending + glitter paste + die cut panel...but I turned the die cut panel into a shaker window. I love shaker cards!
Ok now that we've talked cards, your next stop on the hop is Jeanne and I know she's going to have something fab to show us! (Find the full hop list on the Waffle Flower blog.)

Oh but wait before you go, let's talk giveaways and fun sales!

mft stamps november release countdown day 4

We are counting down to the MFT Stamps November release and as the countdown goes on, you are going to see that I'm loving the snowflakes, critters and glitter!

As a matter of fact if we count ice as snowflakes (they are related right? LOL), then the card I want to share with you today actually has all those things!

I started the card by making a simple background for my penguin. I masked a section of the card front and ink blended some Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina and Shaded Lilac.

Then I added some DIY glitter paste on top (just Glossy Accents and mixed together until it is the right consistency to spread but hold its shape).

I stamped, cut and colored one of the cutie pie penguins and an iceberg from the Playful Penguins set. Then adhered them to the card when the glitter paste was dry.

And finally I masked part of one of the sentiment stamps to fit right underneath.

Pop over to the MFT blog when you have a minute to see more of the November release.
