more watercolor leaves

i'm craving crisp fall days when the leaves are really these colors! and i'm loving this essentials by ellen clear stamps thankful set so much!

-to create the watercolored background for this card, i used the die cut scraps from my last card. i put the scrap piece paper containing the negative leaf shape down on my 3.5 x 5 piece of bristol and carefully watercolored inside of it using distress inks.

-i stamped the coordinated leaf shape on vellum in versamark and embossed in gold. then i die cut the shape.

-i stamped a sentiment from the wplus9 hand lettered thanks set in versamark and embossed in gold as well. i cut it into a skinny strip and "fishtailed" the ends with scissors.

-i matted the sentiment on bristol paper that i first watercolored with antique linen distress ink, tucking the vellum leaf behind the sentiment strip.

watercolor leaves

i'm still enjoying some play time with the new essentials by ellen holiday 2015 release and this week i want to share some of my fall & thanksgiving cards.

-i started with a 3.5 x 5 card from solar white cardstock. i placed the diamond mask from the studio calico brighton pier set (this set is quickly becoming a favorite,) on the card front and lightly tapped antique linen over it with a ink blending tool. i focused on just the middle and used a light hand.

-i die cut leaves from the essentials by ellen designer dies thankful set from smooth bristol and watercolored them with distress inks. i also die cut one more leaf from gold glitter paper.

-next i die cut the savvy "thanks" 4 times from black cardstock and adhered them together to create a dimensional sentiment.

-i grouped my leaves together and adhered them to the card front, adding a little twine bow. finally i adhered my dimensional sentiment to the card.

pumpkin shaker

today i'm sharing my last halloween card created with the new essentials by ellen got candy? stamps and dies. i love these sets and i'm sure there will be more halloween cards in my future, after all it is only august, but next week, fall!

i created this non-traditional round shaker card with the help of two different size circle from the lawn fawn circle stackables die set to create rings.

to create the shaker pocket, i cut apart a 9-pocket page and filled it with sequins and small star die cuts from the essentials by ellen home & hearth die cut.

to secure my shaker pocket i used a permanent marker to draw a line where i should stitch, i stitched the top and then cut off the excess.

i sandwiched my shaker pocket between the two rings i die cut. and then i stamped and die cut a pumpkin from the got candy set? and a sentiment. i watercolored the pumpkin with spiced marmalade distress ink. and i added a few embossed stars to the front with versamark and detail white powder.

i'm guessing i'll have to write a message on the back of the ring, it will be short but it will be fun to send!
