showering love...

Valentine's Day is coming up and I'm getting pretty excited! I know Valentine's can get a bad wrap as a commercial holiday intended just to sell greeting cards but I love it! I love the hearts, the red & pink, the chocolate AND most of all, having a date on the calendar to remind me to shower the people I love with love. We can all use the reminder. And the world could use a little more love right now, am I right?

For the next couple of weeks, I have some lovey projects to share and I hope you will be inspired to shower the people you love on Valentine's or any random day.

See you soon!

happy hello with the happy card set

I have been waiting to share this card for weeks now and then practically forgot with all the holiday crazy. This card started my loving obsession with the Concord & 9th Happy Card die set. I had so much fun using almost all of the pieces and combining them with my favorite messy watercolors.

To create this card, start with cutting the floral piece from the Concord & 9th Happy Card set. Use it as a "stencil" to draw some flowers on a piece of smooth watercolor paper. And don't worry if you get ink on the stencil, it just adds to it.
With Clean Color markers and a bit of water, add more color and blending to your traced flowers. Stamp leaves in a blendable ink like Distress Ink, and add more color. And while coloring, color the flower used as a stencil.

While the floral background you've created is drying, die cut the Happy Card Frame with the "happy" word insert. Color the happy with shimmery ink like Wink of Stella.
Adhere the flower piece in the corner of the frame.

Stamp and emboss "hello" on banner piece. Then smear on some Wink of Stella for shimmer. Adhere to frame.

Finally adhere frame over watercolored floral background and add some sequins.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!

so much love for concord & 9th...

I think I've been talking about Concord & 9th's Happy Card die set for a while now but that is actually not the only product of theirs that I love, LOL! I have so much love for Concord & 9th...I love their fresh, fun style and I have loved getting to know them a little bit in my "day job" at Ellen Hutson LLC (can't wait to meet them in real life next week at CHA). So anyways, you can imagine how thrilled and honored I was when C&9 asked me to guest for them to show off how awesome their January release is! And guess what is included in the January release, more dies to coordinate with my beloved Happy Card set! I think I did a dance of joy, LOL!

In addition to the Love Always Frame die set, there is a super cute Love Always stamp set that has images that are simply perfect! Here's a look the them bundled together...
And here's the cards I created...
The stripes were calling my name (you should see my closet)! And I always love foil.

To create these cards, I started with stamping the stripes repeatedly across the corner of a white panel and embossing.
To foil, I just placed ombre pink & gold transfer foil over the stripes and ran it through my laminator.
The leftover foil was so pretty, I thought it deserved to be used so I placed a piece of double-sided adhesive on top to transfer the foil. Then I removed the liner paper and placed the now-sticky foil onto a piece of white cardstock. And finally I used a powder tool to deactivate the adhesive left showing through the stripes.
I tried the double-sided adhesive and left over foil again but I removed the bottom liner first, placing it onto cardstock, and then removed the top liner. Does that make sense? Well the result was much more distressed but still lovely...

Here are the yummy-stripy-foil-backgrounds I created! They make me so happy and I haven't got to my beloved Happy Card set yet!
I used the Love Always Frame set to complete my cards, using the love with the frame, using just the word and making foiled heart confetti.

The love die is so awesome, with lines etched in the die to match it with the frame (see the pink arrow).
And to foil just the "love" word (in the frame), I die cut the frame, then placed a piece of double sided adhesive where the love goes across before die cutting the word (see pink arrow).

Thank you Concord & 9th for inviting me to show off some of you awesome products!!!

And thanks for stopping by friends!!!

making it shine...

I'm over in The Classroom at Ellen Hutson today playing with Chibitronics and my beloved Happy Card from Concord & 9th to create a "frozen" card. Come on over!

happy little shaker

So if you've been spending any time with me lately (in real-life or on social media, LOL) I have a bit of an obsession with the Concord & 9th Happy Card die set. I just think it's such a cool idea, being able to create a frame with changeable inserts. And I think it's the perfect vehicle for a shaker card...

To create this card, start by die cutting the Happy Card frame with the "happy" word insert. I cut one frame from gold foil paper to use for my card front and one from scrap cardstock to use as a mask.

On a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 panel of smooth cardstock, stamp flowers. Masking the top with the scrap cardstock piece (leftover from the cardstock frame you previously cut) to stamp black flowers. And masking the bottom to stamp flowers is Distress Ink.

Color "top flowers", the ones stamped in Distress Ink. I used Clean Color markers.
Adhere acetate to frame cut from gold foil, place sequins on acetate and adhere to flower panel. I made this card a "faux" shaker, with little movement. I wanted the colored flowers on top to look like they were raining down sequins.

Thanks for stopping by!
