a card for dad + 3 days until the mft may release

Do you need a card for Father's Day? I have one to share featuring the MFT May release!

While my sister & I were growing up, my dad had a mustache that would make Tom Selleck proud so this card makes me laugh!

I combined the "mustache gracias" from the Super Stache stamp set with the Dad die to create the sentiment. And "dad" is die cut from a ink blended panel using Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Salvaged Patina.

The mustache die cut is from the Mustache Trio die set. I die cut two from white cardstock and a third from black and then adhered them together for a layered look. I added Glossy Accents to the top.

To see more of the MFT May release, make sure you pop over to the MFT blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope to see you again tomorrow for another sneak peek!

4 days until the mft release

It's day 4 of the countdown to new MFT goodies and today I've got something a little different to share...cards with no stamping on the outside!

These cards were created with the Friendly Forest Faces die set...

This set is a little different for me...like where do you ink blend or add glitter? LOL! But seriously they are so sweet, all I did was die cut, assemble and I love them!

There is also Woodland Words stamp set that has the most adorable, punny sentiments. I stamped those inside my cards because I didn't want to compete with their sweet animal faces.

You can find more peeks at the MFT May release on their blog and YouTube channel.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

the mft stamps may release countdown day 5

The countdown to the MFT Stamps May release starts today and I'm so excited to share a card with you that uses two of the new goodies, the Modern Serif Alphabet dies and Pure Poppies stamps!

I LOVE alphabet dies and this one is perfect!!! *chef's kiss* And how can you go wrong with poppies?! Such a gorgeous floral set!

My card is super simple...the poppies stamped in black with a little faux paint splatter (created with a marker).

And the my sentiment is die cut letters colored with markers. Full disclosure, I made this card after bedtime and the next morning I wasn't quite as sure about my color choices...haha! I'm still not so I might just recreate it during some daylight hours.

When you have a minute, I highly recommend popping over to the MFT blog to see more of the release and the creations of my fab teammates!

Thanks for visiting!

mft's sketch challenge 592

It's sketch challenge time again over at MFT Stamps!!!

I love the creativity boost I feel after completing these challenges. And did you know that you might win $50 to the MFT shop if you enter?! I'm just playing along (and not entering) because I'm lucky enough to already be on the MFT design team.

Here's this week's sketch...

And here's my take...

I did my best to emulate my amazing MFT teammate Melania Deasy. I love the way she combines ink blended backgrounds with colored images. And while I will need a lot more practice to create like Melania, I like how this turned out.

For the background I blended Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina & Twisted Citron, then splattered it with a little clean water.

I stamped images from You're My Sunshine, die cut and colored them with Copic markers. Oh and I borrowed the rainbow from the Better Together set because I wanted a larger rainbow.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to join the sketch challenge! You can find all the info HERE on their blog.

Hugs!

foiled rainbow card with essentials by ellen

Do you have a favorite cardmaking technique? Or maybe a few that you use often?

Foil is something I love adding to my cards but I really don't do it enough. Maybe it's because my foil press machine lives in a closet...I really need to find her a space on my desk...lol!

But anyways my foil press has been out the last week and I've been foiling with hot foil stamps & some dies like the Essentials by Ellen Rainbow Card. I paired it with another cardmaking fav, ink blending. What do you think?
Foiling with dies creates really delicate lines...
...so I added the ink blending with Distress Inks to "spotlight" the foiled rainbow and I like how it turned out.
To complete the card, I used the MFT Arched Birthday die. I cut the Happy Birthday from the panel and then adhered gold cardstock behind the negative die cut.

I decided to make it an infinity shaker so I placed the panel in an Avery Elle storage pocket and added gold star sequins.
I added the white die cut clouds as a bit of an after thought and while I like them, I might have spaced everything a little differently if that had been the original plan. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a great day!

my favorite ways to use stencils for cardmaking

Do you use stencils in your cardmaking? I do and I love them because they pair so well with other cardmaking techniques & mediums I love like ink blending, masking, Glossy Accents & Glimmer Paste!
I've got a brand new video over on the Ellen Hutson blog today and I would love it if you stopped by to check it out!

pinkfresh studio april 2022 stamp, die, stencil and hot foil release

I'm thrilled to be joining the hop today to celebrate Pinkfresh's gorgeous April release! Seriously, they have knocked it out of the park again!

The cards I want to share with you today are a combination of foiling and ink blending...

I love how these cards turned out but I almost don't feel like I can claim any credit...the Peony Print hot foil plate is just STUNNING!

Seriously I'm obsessed. I opened it and foiled panel after panel. See what I mean...

When I finally turned off the foil press to make some panels into cards, all I did was a little masking and ink blending.

The sentiments are from one of my favorite PF sets, My Favorite Things To Say Vol. 2. I stamped them on acetate with Stazon ink so the foiled pattern would show through. And I adhered the acetate circles to the card, hiding the adhesive by adding rhinestones.

And can you believe I haven't even played with the coordinating Peony Print stencil? I'm off to ink it up right now and you have more hopping to do!

But before you go, let's talk giveaways!
