There are fabulous new Essentials by Ellen stamps & dies coming to the Ellen Hutson shop this Friday with sneak peeks all week while you wait!

Today I've got a silly card for you with the new Old Spool stamps and Thread Friends dies...

I think the dog bobbin looks adorable cut from kraft cardstock with a few black accents and wrapped with embroidery floss.

TIP: I didn't have the color of floss I wanted so I used a Copic ink refill to dye white floss. I blotted some of the floss with a clean paper towel before the ink had dried to get a variegated look.

For the little ball I just wrapped a circle die with floss.

The sentiment is from the Old Spool set and it just makes me giggle.

And the cute bobbins from the Thread Friends set are actually functional too! Look how organized I'm becoming, with my floss on bobbins and my bobbins on a binder ring.

just one more day...

...until the MFT Stamps June release! And today I've got a little road trip, bon voyage, safe travels card to share with you!

I created the road with some super simple masking with low-tack tape and ink blending. MFT Gravel Gray is the perfect color for a road!

On my first road background attempt I used a white pen to draw the divider lines but they didn't feel bold enough. My solution was to use the sprinkles die from the Happy Cake Day set.

To the road I added a little Copic-colored bunny driver from the Anywhere With You set.

stamped acetate shaker card + new essentials by ellen

Do you know my favorite type of card to make? It's a shaker card! And if you've been here even once before or seen my IG, you probably knew that, LOL!

Today I've got a shaker card to share with you that also gives you a little peek at the latest Essentials by Ellen (available in the EH shop this Friday).

I love when a stamp & coordinating die set has a shape that is perfect for a shaker window like this cute little beehive from the One in a Buzz-ilion set (available Friday).

After die cutting the beehive from a 110lb white cardstock panel, I adhered acetate behind to make the window and then stamped the coordinating beehive image on top with StazOn (the Sharpie pen of inks).

And it's hard to see in the pics but the background of the shaker is CP Tiara yellow covered with Moonstone Glimmer Paste for a little extra sparkle!

stamping a small scene + 2 days until the mft june release

Does stamping a full card scene feel a little overwhelming? I know that I often don't know where to start when a blank card is waiting for me. And don't get me started on all the coloring, that takes me the most time by far! My solution...I like to make small scenes and I can't wait to show you my latest one! Plus you get a little peek at the June MFT release.

For this small scene I started by choosing a few images from the adorable Best Beach Friends set that I wanted to color.

Then I put a strip of Sno Cone cardstock across the top of my folded card and stamped more images from the set with Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina.

TIP: A really fun thing about clear stamps is you can shape them a bit. To give the one palm tree image a little variety, I gently bent the tree on the left in the opposite direction before stamping.

love is love card + 3 days until the mft june release

We are counting down the days until the latest MFT Stamps release and I feel extra excited to share my latest card...

I love everything about this card! I love the negative die cutting of words, the ink blending, the glitter but most of all I love the message!

To make it I ink blended Distress Oxide inks Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac and Salvaged Patina on the front of a folded card.

I applied glimmer paste over the ink blending and sprinkled it with a little extra chunky glitter while it was wet.

After the glimmer paste was dry, I adhered the panel with the negative die cut sentiment over the top.

I might send this card or I might just frame it! LOL!

pig fun + 4 days until the mft june release

There are 4 days left until the MFT June release and we're sharing a little more about it today! I can't wait to show you this card with the Pig Time Fun set!

Someday I will look at an adorable stamp set and resist making a shaker card but today is not that day! Haha!

I used a shaker pocket to make this a full-panel shaker so the little scene could go right to the edge.

I cut tissue paper waves with Mini Slimline Outside the Box Waves Die-namics to layer over the acetate so my sweet little piggy could be "floating".

the mft stamps june release countdown day 5

It is time to countdown to another fantastic MFT Stamps release! I love these monthly releases, seeing what the MFT team creates always inspires me so much! And I've got a little preview of some of the new goodies for you...

The Sunny Rays stencil is perfect for summer! I know I'm going to love using it for little critter scenes in the future but for this card I decided to go with my first love, ink blending!

I used Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade and Saltwater Taffy, blending through the stencil onto white cardstock. The result was pretty but felt a little stark for a sunrise. I removed the stencil and went over the panel again with my blending tools, using just the ink that was already on the tools, to get the soft look.

To finish the card I added some clouds with Mini Slimline Outside the Box Clouds Die-namics, the sentiment from the new Sunny Rays Sentiment stamps and a few star sequins.
