i love when stamps and dies can be "repurposed" into something unexpected like when a poinsettia leaf becomes a flower. inspired by a painting i saw, i created this:
-i started by cutting the largest rectangle from mft's stitched rectangle from smooth bristol.
-i used my ink blending tool with distress inks mermaid lagoon and peacock feathers to color it. when i was happy with my color, i added a few drops of water with a paint brush and a few tiny dots in mermaid lagoon from the essentials by ellen bokeh dots set.
-while my stitched rectangle was drying, i die cut a 2 inch circle from smooth bristol to create a lily pad and tissue paper "petals" with the smaller leaf from the essentials by ellen mondo poinsettia die set.
-to color my petals, i made spray stains with distress ink reinkers festive berries and spun sugar (if i had the "real" stains on hand, that would have worked great too). i sprayed the ends with festive berries and then sprayed the whole petal with spun sugar.
-i used my ink blending tool to color my lily pad with distress ink crushed olive and shabby shutters. then i cut a little wedge from the circle to make it look a little more like a lily pad. i added details with a tiny paintbrush and distress ink crushed olive.
-to my stitched rectangle i added an white embossed sentiment.
-when my petals were dry, i created my lotus flower by layering and adhering the petals to half of a 1 inch circle. and then i added a few tiny dots to the petals with distress ink festive berries.
-i assembled everything and adhered it all to a solar white 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card.
thanks so much for stopping by!
