Wanna know something funny? I don't even drink coffee, don't like it. Can't stand it actually. But I do love a Starbucks Coconut Hot Chocolate and cute coffee themed papercrafts. So I had to create some coffee cup tags...
The tags are 3 layers, red cup, white cup and a partially die-cut cup in the center for stability. The lid is fuzzy white felt.
I'm feeling a little tag crazy right now, ever since creating my tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist. The Essentials by Ellen All Inside bear is one of my all-time favorites so I felt like I had to include him in the holidays.
To create this little sweet tag, cut tag from polka dot paper or create your own. I used a small circle from the Bokeh Dot set and one of my favorite red inks, Avery Elle Strawberry. Die cut bear from white felt. I like to use gesso to add stability (you can read more about that here). Stamp a face on the felt bear with a permanent ink. I like to use StazOn and a little masking cheat...I cover the bear with painter's tape to leave only his little face free. Then I ink the stamp, remove the tape and stamp onto the felt. The MISTI is especially helpful with this process.
Add a little yarn scarf to the bear and adhere to the tag. Finally use a glue dot to attach candy.
Today I have a quick video for you with the same watercolored edge technique I used on the Honey Bee Lotus card this week. Thank you for the requests to make it, you are all so sweet!
Hope you are having a great Saturday! xo, Carly supplies:
have you heard about the essentials by ellen pin-sights challenge? the pin-sights challenge is an inspiration challenge on the ellen hutson blog, based on a pinterest piece. there is one every month at is starts on the 3rd thursday. and if you play along, you might be randomly selected to win a $50 gift certificate to ellen hutson. pretty cool right? check out this month's inspiration piece:
now since i actually work at ellen hutson, it doesn't seem fair for me to throw my hat in the ring for the gift certificate but this month's inspiration piece and samples by the guest designers were so awesome, i had to create this tag:
-to start i knew i wanted to add a red & white ruffle. i took a small roll of white crepe paper and dipped it into a mixture of distress reinker festive berries and water. i dipped it for just a minute and then used my embossing gun to dry it.
-to create the ruffle in my crepe paper, i machine stitched 4 layers with a loose straight stitch. then i pulled the thread gently to create the ruffle.
-i cut my tag from desert storm cardstock. then i stamped and embossed the "to" stamp in white, adding the seal stamp in red ink.
-for the bottom of the tag i cut a strip of black & white striped paper. on the white stipes i used a glue pen to add glitter. -i assembled my tag, added sequins & cord with jingle bells.
