hello sweetie

i'm crazy for the amazing messy and loose watercolor cards by the super talented julie ebersole and yoonsun hur like this one and this one. i decided to try one too:
-on a 3.25 x 5 piece of smooth bristol i stamped "hello sweetie" with the mama elephant bella letters, a little nod to doctor who. (yes i am a big dork and the doctor is back on september 19th...yay!)

-then i stamped the candy images from the essentials by ellen clear stamps elf'd set with versafine onyx black.

-i watercolored the candy with distress inks.

-before adhering the watercolored panel to a 3.5 x 5 solar white card, i cut a .25 strip of the pink strip patterned paper from the mft dot & strips sorbet pad and adhered that to the card front.

the card came together super easy except it was hard for me to paint outside the lines. i need a little more work with "loose" watercolor...lol!

thanks for stopping by!

polar pals + glitter paste

the new avery elle fall release is so cute! and the polar pals set is the cutest, i mean, just look at that little walrus face!
-i started with a 3.5 x 5 piece of smooth bristol and i stamped the walrus, sentiment and snowflakes all with versafine onyx black.

-to color i used zig clean color real brush markers. i colored the snowflakes and ice in light blue and i colored the walrus in 2 shades of gray.

-for the ice i wanted some texture so i thought it would be fun to create some sparkly "snow" by mixing glitter and texture paste.

-once my glitter paste was made, i applied it to my stamped image with a toothpick. it was fun and a little messy! next time i will try to be cleaner, lol!

-once my paste was dry, i adhered my stamped panel to a 3.5 x 5 solar white card.

distress ink moon

i've been seeing a few distress ink "moons" around and i couldn't resist creating one myself! it was so easy and fun.
-i started with a 3.5 x 5 sheet of watercolor paper and using blueprint sketch distress ink, i watercolored a loose background.

-i stamped the cute little bat from the essentials by ellen clear stamps got candy? set with versafine onyx black and then die cut with the coordinating set.

-then i did all the rest on my die cutting, a circle from the lawn fawn circle stackables out of solar white. and with the essentials by ellen designer dies home & hearth, little houses and stars from black glitter paper.

-on the solar white circle i used an ink blending tool to combine two shades of distress ink, squeezed lemonade and mustard seed. once i was happy with my "moon" color, i used a paint brush with clean water to drop water onto the circle to create my "crater".

-i stamped the "happy halloween" from the essentials by ellen clear stamps got candy? set at the bottom of my watercolored background. then i started to adhere my pieces, beginning with my spooky glitter houses. then i adhered the bat to the moon and 3d mounted the moon to the card. i finished with the little stars.

-and i adhered the whole 3.5 x 5 watercolor panel to a 3.5 x 5 solar white card.

oh snap

the new lawn fawn fall and winter release is so fun and oh snap is my favorite! today i just wanted to color the cute little gingerbread men on a quick card.
-i started with a 3.5 x 5 piece of smooth bristol and stamped both gingerbread men in versafine onyx black. then i stamped the sentiment below the cute guys in versafine onyx black as well.

-to color my men, i used a zig clean color real brush marker in beige 072. to blend the color i used a zig wink of stella marker in clear. the wink of stella gives it a fun bit sparkle.

-to my colored little ginger guys, i added some red rhinestones.

-and to finish my card i added a little black ink splatter before adhering my bristol piece to a 3.5 x 5 solar white card.
