easy watercolor stamping technique with neat & tangled

This faux watercolor stamping technique is one of my very favorites and it is so easy! 

Do you want to know more? Well, you might not but I can't help but share, LOL!

Ink your stamp with water-reactive ink (Distress Ink is my fav), mist with water and stamp on watercolor cardstock. Ta-da! So easy!!!

I like to mix colors, add lots of water and sometimes repeat. And I'm never disappointed with the results!

3 ways to use nuvo mousse with water

Nuvo Embellishment Mousse is a really cool & versatile medium for paper crafting! It has tons of uses but today I want to share 3 ways I like to use it with water! 

And just a warning, I'm a little obsessed with the Neat & Tangled Grateful Heart stamp set so it will be appearing on every project today, LOL!

1. Create DIY shimmer paper and watercolor on top.
2. Apply direct to stamp & mist for faux watercolor.
3. Add water to mousse to create metallic watercolors.

To finish this card, I stamped the sentiment on top of the moussed panel and heat set. I also added a little faux splatter with a black Copic marker.

I stamped, colored and die cut the blooms from the Neat & Tangled Grateful Heart set and added it on top of the faux watercolored background. I also added a little mousse watercolor on top of the die cut for a little extra shimmer.

For this card, I stamped the blooms in embossing ink and embossed with gold powder. I like to have the raised lines when watercolor.

nuvo mousse background + new neat & tangled

Nuvo Mousse creates really pretty metallic backgrounds for cards and it is super easy to use!

Plus it is even better when you pair it with a fun background stamp like the Neat & Tangled Delicate Dots.

For this card, I used a blending brush to apply mousse over the dots that I stamped and embossed. 

This color might be my new favorite and it has such a fabulous metallic sheen in real life!

monochromatic coloring with copic markers + new neat & tangled

Have you tried coloring a stamped image in a monochromatic palette? 

I love the clean & classic result of coloring with just one color and I think it makes blending super easy!

Before we talk about coloring, can we talk about the new Neat & Tangled for a minute?! I am so smitten with this new Grateful Heart stamp set!

Ok, a little more about monochromatic coloring...
-I chose Copic markers in shades of Cool Gray because A.) I have lots of gray Copics in my collection and B.) shades of gray just feel like a classic monochromatic look.
-I think going monochromatic is a great way to go if you are new to Copic or still learning to blend because it is soooo easy! I hope you give it a try!

masking with glossy accents + new essentials by ellen

I'm sure I've said this before but masking is one of my very favorite stamping techniques! Recently I have discovered masking with Glossy Accents which I might love even more than regular masking!

Before we talk more about masking, I should mention that we are having a little hop today to share the latest Essentials by Ellen release (peek at the whole awesome release HERE)! If you are hopping with us, you should be arriving from my sparkly & talent friend Carissa Wiley's blog.

I love the look of the Glossy Accents all the time and I'm thrilled that it does double duty as a permanent mask! 

On these cards, I used Glossy Accents to mask my little ghosts and keep them bright white on colorful backgrounds. Here are my tips for masking with Glossy Accents...

• use heavyweight cardstock like 110lb Solar White to avoid warping from the layer of Glossy Accents.
• masking with Glossy Accents is a great way to highlight white images like ghosts!
• apply Glossy Accents as close to the edge of the stamped image as possible.
• use a craft pick to remove bubbles from wet Glossy Accents and pull into small spaces of the stamped image (if you don't have a fine tip applicator).

Today I've got a quick cardmaking process video for you, creating small shaker windows to compliment some layered flowers with The Stamp Market's Handpainted Garden set.

You might know that I'm a bit of a messy crafter , precision is not really part of my skill set, so I usually steer clear of layering stamps BUT this Handpainted Garden set from The Stamp Market is really easy to use!

If you also struggle with layering stamps, I highly recommend starting with a set that has a handpainted or watercolor look. Much easier!

And practice until you find a way to do it that works for you! I've finally found a way to do it that works for me and you can see it in my video...
