it's a party with the new essentials by ellen!

The new Essentials by Ellen release is here and it is a party!!! It's a really busy time at EH so we are not hopping to celebrate until next week but I couldn't resist sharing a shaker card I made...

The new Banner Cake die by Julie is super fun, makes a great shaker card and pairs wonderfully with the Cue The Confetti stamp set.

For this card, I inlaid the banner cake back into the panel I cut it from after inking it and giving it a good coat of sparkly Nuvo Drops.

I stamped "cue the confetti" on the card front, topped it with itty bitty iridescent star sequins and foam mounted the cake panel on top to create a shaker. Easy peasy and so fun to shake!

I have bunches more to share on December 13th (after we finish the 12 Tags at EH) but make sure you check out the release!

Hope you are having a great day! Hugs!

pretty pink posh's brilliant sparkle dot stamp!

Have you seen the new Sparkle Dot Patterns 1 stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh? It is so awesome and full of so many possibilities! I've only just started playing with it but I wanted to share...
The heart & star patterns are perfect to pair with the PPP Reindeer Friends set and the patterns are fabulous to use with Nuvo Drops.
I used the star dot pattern with Nuvo Silver Moondust glitter drops and then I create a shaker panel over the top, filling it with PPP Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix and Flat Silver Stars.

I stamped the heart pattern over an red inked background and filled it with Nuvo Ruby Slippers glitter drops. Then I added a panel with a heart window on top. The Hero Arts Infinity Nesting Heart dies match up to the heart dot pattern pretty well.
And I have a little reminder too...there is an embellishment sale happening at Ellen Hutson starting today, which means you can get 20% off sequins & Nuvo Drops!!! Head over to EH and use the code saveonbling17. You're welcome or I'm sorry for enabling, LOL!

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs!

merry & very bright with new honey bee!

Do you have a favorite holiday "theme"? Is that a weird question? It might be but I do! *laugh*

I have a fondness for the word "merry" and I especially love "merry & bright", so you can imagine that I'm a little head over heels for the new Honey Bee Merry & Bright die set.

The set comes with beautiful skinny script words and also the shadows. The two combined make a great shaker card...
For this card I die cut the shadow words from an A2 panel. Behind the panel I adhered acetate and foam mounted it to a card to create a shaker. And on top of the acetate, I adhered the beautiful skinny "merry" and "bright" words. Since the die cuts are so delicate, I highly recommend applying a double-sided sticker-paper-like adhesive to the cardstock before die cutting, like Stick It.
I also used the skinny words on top of a glittery stripe background that I made. I used a vellum circle to ground them and give them a little more "weight".
And the stripes were super easy to make...I applied painter's tape to an A2 panel of cardstock. Then I used an ink blending tool to create "Barbie stripes" in pink & purple pigment ink. I'm really loving Tutti Fruitti, Orchid and Sweet Lilac.
With the painter's tape still in place, I applied Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste with a palette knife.
The paste dries quickly so remove the tape right away.

hopping with pretty pink posh!

There's a new Pretty Pink Posh release this week and I think it might be the best one yet! In fact, I'm a little obsessed with the new Wild Rose stamp set, as you will see in a minute but first let me tell you about prizes...

There are 4 $25 gift certificates up for grabs! Winners will be picked randomly along the blog hop (both days). Comments must be left by 11:59 PM PST on 11/7/2017 and winners will be announced on the PPP blog so make sure to leave a little "hello" along the hop to enter.

Ok, back to the Wild Rose set...I used my MISTI to create a cascade of Wild Roses and then I stamped in different inks & played with an assortment of mediums.

#1. VersaFine, Clean Color & Aqua Shimmer
I stamped with my favorite black ink for watercoloring or pretty much anything, VersaFine. I colored just one flower with Clean Color Real Brush Markers and used a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer glitter gloss marker to blend. Finally I added a layer of Glossy Accents over the top for dimension and shine. It's hard to capture but the glossy glitter is so yummy!

#2. Clean Color & Nuvo Mousse
I stamped the flowers again using a Copic-friendly ink (I find it works better with the Nuvo Mousse). Then I coated the entire panel with Mother of Pearl Nuvo Mousse. It's like DIY shimmer paper with the stamped image underneath. I used the Clean Color markers to color the flowers, over the mousse, blending with just a little water. The final touches were sequins of course, and Nuvo Glitter Drops flower centers and smudged on the panel too.

#3. Distress Oxides
On this card, the flowers are stamped in Distress Oxide. Then I used more Distress Oxide to watercolor in a messy, Carly fashion.

And I used one of the tiny, cute sentiments from the PPP Bear Hugs set.

Thanks for stopping by and have fun hopping!

Hugs!

Pretty Pink Posh July Release Blog Hop + 3 Ways To Use A Circle Die

I'm so excited to be joining in the fun today, celebrating the July release from Pretty Pink Posh! (And by-the-way, did you see I have 2 posts in 1 day? I feel like a rockstar, LOL!) PPP is one of my favs because sequins are always a good idea, am I right?! Working at Ellen Hutson, I've gotten to know the amazing lady behind PPP and Paulina is even sweeter than her sequins! And PPP also makes the cutest stamps sets!

Today I have 3 cards to share with you using some of the adorable Pretty Pink Posh July release and 3 ways to use a circle die.

#1. Create a mask.

Using your favorite masking paper, die cut a circle and use the negative piece to create a circular scene on the card front. I inked my circle with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I stamped the adorable fluffy clouds from the new Fly A Kite set, along with a kite string & sentiment. To create a shaker kite, I used the smallest Stitched Diamond cut from cardstock and the medium Stitched Diamond cut from acetate.
I used small scissors to cut tabs in the acetate, wrapped it around the cardstock and adhered.

Before adhering the last side, I filled it with sequins, the gorgeous new Mermaid Mix...trust me, you need this mix!

#2. Create a shaker window.
For this card, I actually created a faux shaker, a flat pocket filled with the cheerful new Sunny Days sequin mix. I sandwiched the pocket between my card and a panel with a circle cut from the side.

#3. Create a spinner.
Inspired by a birthday card from my sister, I thought a spinner would be fun. I masked off sections of a circle, inked and added summer images from the Fly A Kite and Summer Friends sets in coordinating ink colors. And I added a few sequins too because as I might have said earlier, sequins are always a good idea!

I used a black pen to define each summer wedge and attached the spinner with a big brad.

Thanks so much for coming by and keep hopping along to Shannon's blog. And here's the whole list in case you get lost:
Wanna see the whole Pretty Pink Posh release? You know you do :) so click here!

And don't forget that there are four $25 gift certificates up for grabs (two winners each day)! Winners will be picked randomly along the blog hop so make sure to leave comments along the way. (Comments must be left by 11:59pm PST on July 18th and winners will be announced on the PPP blog.)

Hugs!

showering love - sequin hearts & stripes

Today I have another super easy idea for lovey cards with sequin hearts that look much more complicated than they are!
Stamp panels with stripes like the My Favorite Things Watercolor Stripes background or the 3 stripe band from my new fav, Concord & 9th Love Always.

Die cut hearts from the stamped panels.

Then create the little sequined pieces to fill the negative space of the heart die cuts. This is much easier than it looks! Cut a piece of strong double sided adhesive bigger than the heart. Remove part of the adhesive liner and apply sequin trim (sequins pre-stitched together). Continue to remove the adhesive liner paper and apply the sequin trim until the piece is covered.

The iridescent sequin trim is available at Ellen Hutson LLC and the black is from my stash, left over from my wedding. Head over to my Instagram account for a chance to win some black trim happy mail.

Finish the panels with black ink splatter and sentiments before adhering to card. So easy right?!

I'm off to CHA but I'll be posting the fun on my Instagram account so make sure to pop over and check it out.

xo,
Carly
