friday creative: love edition #4

today's friday creative is a really sweet and easy photo project that's fun anytime of year but i've included a pdf (see supplies) so you can whip it up for valentine's day! supplies:
-bottled soda (jones makes strawberry lime, a great red shade)
-bottle wraps (find the pdf here)
-photos (start with wallets and trim down)
-double-sided tape or similar adhesive
-paper trimmer

how to:
-trim photos to fit bottle wraps, love potion is a 1.75" square and happy valentine's day is 2.25"x2.75".
-make sure to adhere photos to bottle wraps very securely, since they will have to be "wrapping".
-finally adhere wraps to bottles, start in front and wrap around.
-so easy right?!

happy friday!

friday creative: love edition #3

today is our third installment in the love edition of friday creative and it is my take on what i think is becoming a popular valentine tradition, valentine fortune cookies. my fortunes include photos of course! and i'm super excited to be bringing you my second pdf today, (see supplies).supplies:
-fortune cookies (homemade or purchased)
-fortunes (here's the pdf)
-tiny photos (index prints work great)
-takeout boxes (optional)

how to:
-start with making fortunes...print out fortunes at 100% on white paper. cut out fortunes and photos from index prints, then adhere photos to fortunes.
-next you need can make or purchase. if you want to make them, miss martha has a recipe (find it here) but in my humble opinion, it is a little tricky (though you might be a better baker than me). with store bought ones...wrap the cookie in a damp paper towel and microwave for about 30 seconds (depending on your microwave), then it will be soft enough to unfold and replace the old fortune with your new cute photo fortune. carefully fold back up.
-then package as desired...the takeout boxes are certainly cute, look for them at restaurant supply (and local bellingham girls, check out cash n' carry).

happy friday!

friday creative: love edition #2

so today's project is a super-duper adorable photo valentine idea from last february's creating keepsakes magazine and joscelyne cutchens. here's my version...

-sweethearts (or another boxed candy)
-photo (i recommend wallet-sized to start)
-paper trimmer
-adhesive (something like double-sided tape)
-red cardstock for matting photo
-scalloped square punch (optional)

how to:
-crop photos to fit candy box. mine are about 2.25" square.
-punch scalloped squares from red cardstock or cut a larger matting square with a paper trimmer, (for 2.25", i would recommend 2.5").
-adhere photo and red square together and then adhere to candy box.

happy friday!

friday creative: love edition #1

so here is the first of six friday creative: the love editions, i'm so excited! our first love project is photo cupcake toppers and with today's project i had the extra fun excuse of baking red velvet cupcakes as a "craft project" and not just because i needed a sugar fix (which i did because i always do)! today i'm also super excited to be offering you my very first pdf goodie (see supplies) and i hope you like it!
-photos (i recommend wallet sized)
-patterned paper
-circle punches (i used a plain 1.75" & a scalloped 2" punch but you could also just cut squares with a paper trimmer)
-cupcake banners (download my first pdf here!)
-and cupcakes of course!

how to:
-for each topper, punch/cut one photo and punch/cut two pieces of patterned paper.
-adhere the photo to one piece of patterned paper and adhere it to the toothpick. Then adhere the second piece of patterned paper on the back, sandwiching the toothpick.
-cut out a cupcake banner, fold in half and adhere around the toothpick.
-insert into a beautiful cupcake and ta-da!

don't forget to email me to get your spot at the valentine's mini sessions, and stay tuned for more fun valentine's projects, along with more fun download-able pdfs! happy friday!
