i love my job
i'm starting off my holiday weekend with a little scrapbooking!
i had to document how blessed i feel to be a part of the ellen hutson llc family. the photos are just a few random snaps, including a picture of our old warehouse and a box of krispy kremes.
i created the sequined title using the same technique i used here and adorable new glittered heart stickers from crate paper.

blue magnolias
happy monday! i hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. i sure did. i got to spend time with my family, i successfully made vegan fudge, santa shaun was good to me and i even got to craft a little bit. i started this card over the weekend and finished it today...
i'm a little smitten with the prima magnolia stencil. it started with this card, continues today and i think there might be one more (wink, wink).
-i started by applying 4 colors of distress ink to my stencil, cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon and chipped sapphire, lightest color first so not to contaminate my ink pads.
-after inking, i misted my stencil with water and used it like a stamp on a 4-1/4 x 5-1/4 piece of letterpress cardstock.
-i set my panel aside to dry and stamped my sentiment on vellum with stazon jet black ink.
-i cut down my magnolia panel to 3-3/4 x 5 and then machine stitched my stamped vellum on top.
-then i added a little shimmer to my vellum with a clear wink of stella pen. i tried to concentrate my shimmer to on top of the white areas on the magnolia panel and my sentiment.
-my shimmer was a little more silver than clear because i gave my wink of stella a good squeeze before i started but its still pretty right?
-i mounted my magnolia & vellum to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 solar white card and finished be adding some clear sequins (i think i always say that, lol).
see you soon!

christmas tag + pin-sights challenge
have you heard about the essentials by ellen pin-sights challenge? the pin-sights challenge is an inspiration challenge on the ellen hutson blog, based on a pinterest piece. there is one every month at is starts on the 3rd thursday. and if you play along, you might be randomly selected to win a $50 gift certificate to ellen hutson. pretty cool right? check out this month's inspiration piece:
now since i actually work at ellen hutson, it doesn't seem fair for me to throw my hat in the ring for the gift certificate but this month's inspiration piece and samples by the guest designers were so awesome, i had to create this tag:
-to start i knew i wanted to add a red & white ruffle. i took a small roll of white crepe paper and dipped it into a mixture of distress reinker festive berries and water. i dipped it for just a minute and then used my embossing gun to dry it.
-to create the ruffle in my crepe paper, i machine stitched 4 layers with a loose straight stitch. then i pulled the thread gently to create the ruffle.
-i cut my tag from desert storm cardstock. then i stamped and embossed the "to" stamp in white, adding the seal stamp in red ink.
-for the bottom of the tag i cut a strip of black & white striped paper. on the white stipes i used a glue pen to add glitter.
-i assembled my tag, added sequins & cord with jingle bells.
