making custom message shaker card

I don't think I can say enough how much I love shaker cards, especially ones made with word or alphabet dies!
One reason I love using alphabet dies so much is that you can create custom messages. When I pulled some of my favorite dies out to play, I was going to make a happy birthday card (just to have on hand) but then I thought about one of my dearest friends who is feeling blue.

I decided to create a card with a little reminder to her about how amazing and special she is so I die cut "own your magic". Light pencil lines helped me line up the dies for cutting.

After creating the shaker window by adhering acetate behind the die cut panel, I also adhered the rainbow die cuts that I watercolored with Distress Inks.

Before adhering the whole shaker shebang onto my card front, I added a little glimmer paste and sequins when it was dry.

I love how it turned out and I hope it makes my friend smile.

3 of my favorite ways to use word dies

I love how versatile word and alphabet dies are! Today I'm sharing 3 of my favorite ways to use word dies with Waffle Flower's Oversized Hello.

Hopefully you are joining our blog hop today and are arriving from Michele's marvelous blog! (And you can find the full hop list HERE.)
One of the ways I use die cut words most often is stacked up & glossy! I cut 3 words, adhere together with a glue pen and then add Glossy Accents on the top. For this card, I used skinny purple tape to mask off a rectangle and then ink blended the background. I couldn't resist adding one of my favorite flower stamps on top with a little faux splatter made with Copic markers.

I also love to use the negative die cut space to make a shaker window! For this one, I just did a little ink blending on my card front underneath the shaker window.

And finally, I love the smooth look of inlaid die cuts too! Plus the flat design is great for mailing!

Now it wouldn't be a hop without prizes! One random & lucky commenter will win $25 to the EH shop! To enter for a chance to win, make sure to leave comments at each stop along the hop! Comment before Tuesday, February 18th at 11:59pm PST. Winner will be notified by email.
I'm the last stop on the hop but you can head over to the EH blog to start at the beginning!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
