layered distress oxide resist

I love a good embossed resist stamping technique, especially a layered Distress Oxide one!

In case you haven't used Distress Oxide inks yet (and I highly recommend you do), here's a quick bit about them...

  • they are a hybrid of pigment & dye inks
  • they are water-reactive, creating a "oxidized" effect when you add water
  • they blend beautifully
  • they are fun to watercolor with
  • and because they are part pigment, you can layer colors without getting "mud"

And I love this layered resist technique! You create a background with inks & water. Stamp & emboss an image in clear. Then finish by adding another color! Here's a quick video of the process:

no line coloring with copic markers

No line coloring is a stamping technique that I have found really intimidating but here a few tips that have helped me!

A few tips...
  • find an ink pad that works for you! I have tried light browns, light grays, light pinks...all with so-so results. The Ink On 3 Fadeout is by far my favorite and has been a game changer!
  • Keep the stamp close to use as a reference.
  • Start small! A small image is far less intimidating when those lines start to disappear. Or start with an image that you can take some artistic license with like a floral! My first real no line success was with a flower (and you can see that HERE).
Wanna see my no line coloring in action? Here's a quick video...

trinity stamps mr. snailman

Have you seen the new Mr. Snailman stamp set from Trinity stamps? He is so darn cute and the perfect image to practice my Copic coloring!
The amazing & talent Gemma Campbell (lollipolly on IG) inspired me to test out some new colors combos, specifically BV02, BV23 & BV08. Now I still used my beloved BGs but the blue violet has been so fun!

My Trinity teamies have some really adorable Mr. Snailman cards on the Trinity blog today so make sure to check them out!

neat & tangled mail

I LOVE the beginning of the month! It's time for new goals, new plans and new STAMPS from some of my favorite companies!!!

Today our Neat & Tangled team is sharing some sneaks of the new Mail Background stamp and coordinating dies coming out this Friday!

I love this sweet happy mail background!!! For this card, I embossed it in white and ink blended over the top. The adorable little happy mail envelope die cut fit perfectly under yeti's arm. I just used a craft knife to cut a slit between yeti's arm & body so the envelope would slip in.

Make sure you head over to the Neat & Tangled blog to see what my talented teamies have created.

What is Valentine's Day without a little candy? Of course I might say the same thing about all days that end in y, haha! But candy seems especially important for Valentine's Day so I made this card for my little Valentine! And don't worry, I asked her mama first!

Here's a quick video of my process...
