another shaker card with simon says stamp

You're probably thinking, "Another shaker card, Carly?" And yes, I just love them so much!

I've been having so much fun creating with the Bold Scandinavian Floral and Simple Flowers sets! And I LOVE the shaker card I made a few days ago so I decided to use the same technique.

I used the Simple Flowers to create some large shaker bits. I die cut the solid flower from black cardstock and then I used a wonky circle from the Bold Scandinavian Floral to make the flowers a little more groovy! They also look a little like turtles but I love them, LOL!

I ink blended a panel and wrapped it in leftover plastic packaging to create a shaker (see the method in this VIDEO).

Then I adhered the shaker panel to a folded card with the sentiment stamped on it.

mft diamond frames

Have you checked out the latest MFT stamps & dies? There is so much cuteness! And there's a new die set that inspired me to do something a little different for me...

There's no ink blending, no glitter, no colored critters but I love how this card with the Diamond Frames turned out!

For this card I cut 3/4" off the front of a folded card and stamped a sentiment from the Essential Birthday Messages in Cornflower ink.

Then I die cut a bunch of medium & small diamond frames with colored cardstock (Cotton Candy, Sno Cone, Summer Splash & Cornflower). I adhered them to a white cardstock panel in this design. Once the pattern was complete, I trimmed 3/4" off and adhered it to the front of the folded card.

What do you think?
Definitely pop over to MFT to see more of the latest goodies!

mft monkey around

The MFT Stamps February 2024 release is available NOW!!! I know you are excited to check it out but before you go, I have a quick card to share with the adorable new Monkey Around set!

For this card I paired a little blue birthday monkey with one of my favorite big phrase dies, Wish Big Today!

I ink blended my card front and then created a shaker container on top.

For the shaker window, I partially die cut the "wish big", excluding the "today" by placing my die cutting plate above the word when running it through my die cut machine. (Have you tried partial die cutting like that? Should I make a video?)

Then I added the sentiment stamp from the Monkey Around and my stamped, die cut & colored monkey.

I suggest popping over to the MFT blog when you have a minute to see more of the February release and maybe even shop a little😉

how to make an easy shaker card with simon says stamp

I adore making shaker cards and I couldn't wait to turn the Simon Says Stamp Bold Scandinavian Floral dies into one! What do you think?

I used the Bold Scandinavian Floral dies, Distress Oxide inks, some plastic packaging and a few other things to make this slim shaker. Do you want to see the process? Here's a quick video...

mft you make moo so happy

Just one more day until the MFT Stamps February 2024 release hits the shop! And I have one more peek to share with you!

This is the You Make Moo So Happy set! Isn't that cow adorable?!!

I stamped, die cut and colored him but then had too many ideas what to do with him!

So I settled on one of my signature Carly designs, a mini scene card! LOL!

I stamped the clouds & fence in clear embossing ink on Cotton Candy cardstock and embossed with clear powder. Then I ink blended Distress Oxide Blueprint Sketch over the embossing. I love how the embossed design resists the blue!

Then I cut that embossed scene into a strip and adhered it to a white card. I used a little foam tape to add the cow, stamped the sentiment and finished with a little faux splatter made with a pen.

There's more to see on the MFT blog today so stop by when you have a minute!

mft happiness comes in very small packages

The countdown to the MFT Stamps February release is on and I can't tell you everything yet but I can tell you it's all CUTE!!! And I can share another sneak peek...

This sweet little bunny & clouds are from the Happiness Comes In Very Small Packages set! It's a perfect set for baby cards and I think it pairs nicely with the Full of Hearts die ;)

For this card I ink blended the front of a folded card. Then I die cut another panel with the Full of Hearts, positioning the die off the top edge.

I adhered the die cut panel to the card front and added the stamped, die cut & colored images on top.

I stamped the sentiment on the bottom and of course added a little faux splatter with a pen.

mft birthday bites

The MFT Stamps February 2024 release is coming up in a few short days and I've got another quick sneak peek for you!

Check out Birthday Bites, a really cute new Jenoblade set!

I always love Jenoblade's critters but I really love the large group of cakes in this set! It makes an easy background for a clean & simple critter card. I stamped it twice in pink (going off both edges) to make a background for this cute-cake-eating-bunny!

mft big screen scenes + countdown to mft february 2024 release

MFT Stamps has some cuuuute stuff hitting the shop next week! Do you want a little sneak peek? Of course you do!

This is the adorable new Jenoblade Big Screen Scenes set, classic movie scenes with the cute critters!

There's also a fun new Classic TV die set that makes the perfect companion.

I colored the stamped image and the tv (cut from white cardstock) with Copics and put them together on a white card. It's definitely not my usual color palette but it was so fun to do!

emboss resist spring cards with simon says stamp

Do you have a favorite stamping technique? I have a few (lol) but one of my most favorites is emboss resist! I especially love using solid stamps and Distress Oxide inks to make emboss resist cards like this...

Embossing the image lets you create beautiful layers of color because the embossed image will resist the ink you add on top. Emboss on light colored cardstock and then add darker inks over the top to make the images POP!

For this card I embossed the large shamrock from the SSS Lots of Luck set with clear ink & clear powder on white cardstock (white ink or powder would have worked too). Then I blended Distress Oxide inks (Shaded Lilac, Salvaged Patina, Cracked Pistachio & Twisted Citron) over the embossing. The excess ink easily wipes off the embossed areas.

I finished the card with the SSS Bestie die, a stamped sentiment and a little faux black splatter (done with a pen).

And I had so much fun with the first card, that I made another one with the SSS Bunny Kisses!

The Bunny Kisses set is so great because it has layers for the nose & cheek, the body, the ears, the tail! So first I stamped the nose & cheek in Kitsch Flamingo and embossed it with clear powder. Then I stamped the bunny body & ear in clear ink & embossed with clear powder.

I ink blended over the embossing again with Distress Oxides, added a sentiment and faux ink splatter. And while I was adding the ink splatter with a pen, I drew a little eye for the bunny. The final touch was a fluffy white pom-pom on the bunny bum!

mft stitched square scallop edge frames

Did you hear that MFT Stamps opened their vault this week and brought back some of their most sought-after retired sets? And this vault collection is the BEST basics for cardmaking!!!

One of the sets I love is the Stitched Square Scallop Edge Frames! The frames have the sweet little scallops and a stitched detail! I can't believe I haven't used them as a shaker window yet but I did use them to frame the front of this card!

I painted a square of watercolor cardstock blue and let it dry. Then I stamped the Sketched Blooms with Distress ink for a faux watercolor look (you can see the technique here).

After adhering the watercolor panel to a folded card, I die cut four of the Stitched Square Scallop Edge Frame. I adhere the frames together in a stack and adhered that to the card.

There's more about the vault release over on the MFT blog so pop over and take a peek!

simon says stamp splendor

An amazing collection of stamps, dies, stencils and more just hit the Simon Says Stamp shop, the Splendor collection!!!

I have a feeling that I'm going to be creating A LOT of cards with it but I already have a favorite card (and die set) that I couldn't resist sharing ASAP!

The Simple Flowers die seems just that, simple. But I see so many possibilites! I recommend adding it to cart immediately, LOL!

For this card I used the die three times on A2 piece of white cardstock.

Then I ink blended a rainbow with some of my favorite Distress Oxide inks (Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Salvaged Patina and Twisted Citron) on the front of a folded card.

I adhered the flowers panel over the rainbow, added in just a few of the flower middles, added a sentiment from the Friendship Bingo set and a little faux splatter with a pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs!!!

rainbow birthday cards + ppp blog hop day 1

Pretty Pink Posh is celebrating their 10th birthday with an adorable collection of new stamps, dies, stencils & more! And we are having an amazing 5 day blog hop that's just bursting with cardmaking ideas and inspiration!!!

Before I show you what I made, there's more fun! There are five $30 gift certificates to Pretty Pink Posh up for grabs! Enter to win by leaving comments along the hop by 11:59pm PST of February 16th, 2024. The winners will be announced on the PPP blog.

And one more thing...Pretty Pink Posh has a gift for YOU!

Now let me show you some of the rainbow birthday cards I've created...

When I see a cover plate die, I have to turn it into a shaker card! I think it's a rule, LOL! And this Star Cover Plate was no exception!

For this card I ink blended my favorite rainbow of Distress Oxide inks (Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Salvaged Patina & Twisted Citron) on the front of my folded card. I spread some Glossy Accents over the ink and sprinkled on some chunky glitter. After it was dry, I used foam tape to build a shaker container on top. I filled it with Iridescent Circle Confetti, sealed it with acetate and topped it with a panel cut with the
Star Cover Plate. Simple but bright & happy!

Next I made a easy one layer card with ink blending and stenciling...

I used low-tack tape to mask a section on my card front. Then I blended a rainbow with Distress Oxide inks. I placed the Birthday Words Stencil over the top and applied the same colors in the same places. Then I removed the tape and added a little sentiment from the Sentiment Strips: Birthday set and some faux splatter (done with a pen).

If you started at the beginning then I am your last stop on the hop but here's the whole hop list in case you missed anyone...

Thanks so much for hopping with us! Hugs!!!

mft friendship & flowers card kit

The MFT Friendship & Flowers Card Kit just hit the shop and it's perfection! I can't get enough of these floral stencils!!!

Yesterday I used the stencils to create a background for one of my favorite big word dies (see it here) and today I've got a clean & simple swatch style card!

Before stenciling, I masked the bottom of the card front with a little low-tack tape. Then I stenciled with this bright palette of inks:

After stenciling all the layers, I removed the tape and stamped a sweet sentiment from the Essential Friendship Messages.
I highly recommend heading over to the MFT blog to see more and maybe shop too ;)

flowering fun at mft stamps

Something fun is flowering in the MFT Stamps shop this week!

Have you seen the gorgeous MFT Flower Fusion stencils? I love them so much and I'm THRILLED that they are releasing a second set of layering stencils tomorrow with the Friendship & Flowers card kit! Wanna little peek?

For this card I used the stencils on Sno Cone cardstock with a palette of blues, purple & green...

Then I used the stenciled panel as a background, pairing it with my long-time fav A Very Big Hi. And I added a little stamped sentiment with the Geometric Greenery set.
Please pop over to the MFT blog when you have a chance for more info about the Friendship Flowers card kit and to see more inspiration!
