1 stamp 3 ways - doodled lines

the doodle background by pinkfresh is a really adorable stamp but it has been neglected in my collection. this week i'm making it the star with 1 stamp 3 ways. here is my second card:

i used clean color markers to color just one strip of the background and then stamped it on bristol. clean color markers aren't really great for getting a sharp impression when using direct-to-stamp and they will stain clear stamps a bit BUT they are awesome for matching colors with no-line watercoloring.

then i used the matching clean markers to fill in the border image and blended it with a waterbrush.

i die cut 2 hearts and placed gold paper in the negative space.

i mounted the panel to a card and added some gold sequins.

super simple and sweet!

1 stamp 3 ways - coffee magic

i'm not the only one with barely used (or unopened even, lol) stamps in my collection right? well i have the cutest little background stamp from pinkfresh, this one...

i've only used it once so i thought i would challenge myself to take it out and use it for this month's 1 stamp 3 ways. 1 stamp 3 ways is just a silly challenge i made for myself because i was the kind of kid who asked for extra homework. i like assignments, even self-created ones, ha-ha!

inspired by my love affair with starbucks advertising (i don't even drink coffee) and my summer color palette, i create this card:

i created a background by masking stripes and applying distress ink with a blending tool.

i stamped and embossed the frappuccino from the essentials by ellen oh frappe set in white. then i colored it exactly the same as the one from this card with clean color markers.

inspired by this starbucks ad...

...to include doodles in white, i masked a triangle area on a piece of vellum using painter's tape. i stamped my pinkfresh doodle background and embossed it in white. then i trimmed the excess away leaving only the doodled triangle. 

my sentiment is my often used combo of stamp and die. and i think this might be the perfect card to send along with the starbucks gc for a friend who could use a little extra pick-me-up.

1. i love catherine scanlon designs stamps! her designs are so fun to color! and i love the whimsical florals!

2. the minc pink & gold ombre foil is perfection. 'nuf said.

3. i also love, love, love stripes (look in my closet and you'll know it's true)! this watercolor stripe background stamp from mft is awesome.

4. my fav distress inks for summer...twisted citron, spiced marmalade and abandoned coral. 

5. distress inks and watercolors are my usual go-to but i've recently tried some avery elle pigment inks and they are pretty awesome! strawberry is the perfect summer red!

6. i started with just a few clean color markers but after getting a big set i realized how wonderful they are! coloring is a skill i'm really working on and the clean color are so easy to use and have a forgiving watercolor nature. love them! 

7. i think all of the essentials by ellen stamps designed by the awesome (and super sweet) julie ebersole are wonderful but up the happy is my current fav.
