golden love + glitter heart

it's the 6th day in january and i'm just now doing my first post of 2016?! clearly i need to spend more time crafting and less time doing those silly things like chores. haha!

i really should be creating some thank you notes but i'm already getting excited about valentine's day. i love valentine's day so much, and not just because of the chocolate. i just love surprising my loved ones with little notes when there's no big expectations. here's my first love note:
-to start i cut a 12 x 5-1/2 piece of kraft and i scored at 4 inches and 8 inches. then i did some partial die cutting and cut half of the largest essentials by ellen folk heart from what will be my card front.
-next i applied tape to what will be the backside of the front of my card. does that make sense?
-to that tape i adhered a piece of gold glitter paper.
-then i applied adhesive to the back of the glitter paper and adhered it to the next section of my card. this makes a triple thick card front. something to note: if you didn't want to inset the die cut heart, you could just as easily cut a gold glitter heart and adhere it to a kraft card.
-to decorate the front of my card further, i die cut the "love" word. i applied versamark ink to just the bottom half of each letter and then covered it with gold embossing powder.

-then i inked just the "you" part of the "i love you this much" stamp from essentials by ellen love you so set. i used my favorite white ink, yeti by lawn fawn and also embossed in white.

-after adhering my letters and "you" strip to my card, i added a little black ink splatter (perhaps a little too much lol).
thanks for visiting!

xo,
carly
