easy interactive cards with essentials by ellen

Creating and giving a handmade card is sweet like ice cream and a card that has an interactive component is like the sprinkles on top!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I have two really easy interactive card ideas to share with you and we are hopping to celebrate the newest Essentials by Ellen so there are prizes to be won! (If you are hopping with us, you should be arriving from Jessica's amazing blog!)

I have to admit that I procrastinated for a long time when it came to creating any kind of interactive card. It seemed too hard, too complicated, so I was going to stick with my clean & simple single layer cards.

And then I created my first shaker card and I was HOOKED! If you read my blog regularly, you know I'm still quite smitten with shaker cards. And I found that interactive cards don't have to be hard.
This shaker window is easily created with alphabet dies but it could also be a word die or any shape.

I used Copic markers to color the card front where each letter opening was, put a piece of double-sided adhesive on top of the colored area and added glitter.

The second interactive card is even easier! I used the same alphabet dies to create the glittery "happy" (the letters are coated in Glossy Accents and then glitter). The I used foam adhesive to pop up the circus accessories and mounted the lion with an action wobble. So easy and fun!

Now before you hop on to Julie's awesome blog, there are prizes! One random & lucky commenter will win $25 to the EH shop and one will win the whole March Essentials by Ellen release!!! To enter for a chance to win, make sure to leave comments at each stop along the hop! Comment before Thursday, March 12th at 11:59pm PST. Winners will be notified by email.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Carly

Love using a word as a shaker--need to do that! Never tried adding glitter after GA, so now I'll try that, too! Thanks for the inspiration!

Love these cards! So funny and entertaining. My husband gives lots of birthday cards to co-workers....really... and I think they'd get a kick out of one like this shaker card! Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going to check out your blog to see what else is there!

Brilliant idea yo have the lion roar the birthday sentiment.

Your cards are spectacular! The way you used the copic, glitter and colors for the letters are fun with those mediums. Creating a shaker with the letters is neat too. The way you had the happy coming out of the lion's mouth really increased the volume of that greeting! Way to go!

These are fabulous cards Carly! I've not done shaker cards as, like you used to think, I think they must be hard. Now, having read how you've created the one, I'm going to give it a try. I'm going to also bookmark your site so I can come back to peruse your older posts to see what I can learn from you. I'd sign up for your emails, but I have health issues that make me get way behind on the few I have as it is.

Very cute & playful cards, Carly! Love how you used the letters to make shaker cards.....have to admit - shaker cards 'scare' me (though I love them). My first shaker card did not turn out too well, so it was my first/last try. Maybe I will try again - you have inspired me! This is a wonderful release from Ellen Hutson - LOTS of fun stuff, and I'm crazy about all the die sets!
