The second United We Flourish stamp & die combo set premieres today, YAY!
The second set is a collaboration with Avery Elle and was designed by my super talented friend, Heather Campbell. It is called G'Day Mate and isn't it adorable?
G'Day Mate is a limited edition 4x6 clear stamp set with coordinating dies and it is exclusively available at Ellen Hutson LLC (you can see more here). I've had such a blast playing with this set and I've also been experimenting with using Distress Oxides to stamp & create backgrounds...
I love the colors and versatility of traditional Distress Inks and I've been having a blast creating messy inky backgrounds with the new Distress Oxides. And now I love them for stamping too!
It's fun to have all the Distress colors I love with the easy, solid coverage of a pigment.
G'Day Date pairs amazingly well with Avery Elle's Tropics stamp set
To create my border, I stamped the leaves first in Twisted Citron with my MISTI, leaving the leaf I wanted to overlap with black for last. Leaving the stamp on my MISTI, I stamped the leaf again on another piece of cardstock but this time in black. Then I just trimmed a 1 inch piece from the cardstock with the black leaf and adhered that onto the Citron leaves piece.

I was so honored when Sandy invited me to be a part of this amazing hop she was putting together! Encouraging us cardmakers to use our talents for good? What an amazing idea!
My mother-in-law has the biggest heart of anyone I know so it was easy to decide that I wanted to do something in her honor. The hardest part of this project was choosing a charity to donate to. There are so many wonderful and deserving causes! With help from my husband, we settled on one that we knew my mother-in-law would love, PAWS, a wonderful organization that advocates for the rights of animals. Their motto is people helping animals and my mother-in-law has rescued two abandoned puppies! I know she would adopt more if she had room!
We donated to PAWS in her honor and decided to create a little gift basket for her dogs, including treats, toys & a little card. And I decided to go purple because my mother-in-law LOVES purple. And p.s. PAWS did send us a sweet card to give to my mother-in-law but it didn't match my purple theme, LOL!
To create this card, I started by stamping the pup on Smooth Bristol cardstock and again on masking paper.
With the pup masked, I stamped the flower repeatedly to create a background, using Distress ink.
Next I created another mask by die cutting a heart from masking paper sized to fit my card front.
After applying the mask, I applied a messy watercolor to the flowers withing the heart (with the puppy still masked too).
Then I removed all the masks and colored the pup with Clean Color markers.
The finishing touches were to die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle, stamp a sentiment next to the heart like a tag and mount to a purple card.

This week we have been celebrating our friend Heather Campbell over in The Classroom and her adorable designs for Avery Elle. One of my favorite new stamps by Heather is the super cute Wood You? set. Isn't he so adorable?!
I love his dreamy expression and I thought it was perfect for a happy thoughts card...
To create this card I cut a speech bubble shape from masking paper. There are lots of cute speech bubble dies but I was too lazy to clean my desk and find mine so masking paper works great. (P.S. Anyone want to organize my craft room?)
After applying the mask, use a blending tool to apply light pink ink like Distress Ink Spun Sugar.
Next stamp that cutie-pie beaver in a pale ink for no line watercoloring. My current favorite is Distress Ink Antique Linen.
Color with your favorite medium. I love Clean Color Markers because of their forgiving nature (I'm a messy crafter).
Add a sentiment and create a heart for the woodchuck to hold with Nuvo Drops.
Finally fill the special bubble with "good thoughts" like donuts, cookies & cupcakes. Of course your idea of good thoughts might be different than mine, LOL!

Hi and Happy 2017! I hope your new year is starting off great! Mine got off to a little bit of a rocky start but today is treating me pretty well...Chuck's maple bars at work today, some super exciting happy mail, crafting...thanks Tuesday!
So this week is The Classroom at Ellen Hutson, we are showing some love for our friend Heather Campbell and her awesome designs for Avery Elle. I think Heather's designs are so awesome (she has the cutest little animal friends) that I couldn't resist playing along! The sweet little piggy from Hogs & Kisses makes me smile so I started with him...
To create this card, start with stamping Mr. Pig in Spun Sugar Distress ink on smooth watercolor cardstock.
Then create a little piggy mask. Cut a "hill" mask, saving the top and bottom of the mask. I just hand cut mine due to some crafty laziness but there are lots of cut hill die cuts.
Apply bottom hill mask and repeat "LOVE" word across top in gray. A MISTI makes the repeat stamping super easy.
Then apply top hill mask over LOVE background and use an ink blending tool to add some pale pink ink.
Remove the top hill mask & the piggy mask and color the pig. I used Clean Color Markers because they are my fav and I'm terrible with Copics (I'm taking your class in the new year Sandy Allnock!).
Finish with a few little hearts and "inside" in the middle of the big heart.
