distress ink pumpkins

have you seen the 2015 holiday release from ellen hutson llc and julie ebersole? i know i'm more than a little biased, i've admitted it before, but i've been so excited for this release to come out! i love it to pieces! i've been playing and i thought i'd start sharing some of my cards in holiday order, halloween first.

i started with a 3.5 x 5 card cut from ranger watercolor paper. to create the messy scalloped background, i used a stencil from the studio calico brighton pier set (an oldie but a goodie). i tacked the stencil down with washi tape and used a zig clean color real brush marker in cool gray to color in the lines of the stencil. i did it quick and messy, for a sketched look.

to create my pumpkins, i applied squeezed lemonade and spiced marmalade distress inks to solar white cardstock with a ink blending tool. when i was happy with the color, i added a few drops of water and i let it all dry for a few minutes.

next i prepped the surface with the powder tool for embossing. i usually skip this step but i find with so much ink already on the paper, its nearly impossible to get clean embossing without powdering first. then i stamped my pumpkins and heat set.

i die cut my pumpkins and adhered them to my card, one flat and one 3d mounted. i stamped some black stars and "happy halloween" in versafine. and i finished with a few black rhinestones and a little bit of glossy accents on the pumpkins stems.

thanks for stopping by!

xo,
carly
