stamping with spray

My bottle of Heidi Swapp Patina Color Shine has been sitting on my desk since I created my last card and I'm pretty sure it has been whispering, "Use me, love me, I'm your very favorite shade of green...". And it's right. Even though ink sprays can be messy, especially in my hands, I just love it. And it coordinates beautifully with my favorite Distress color, Cracked Pistachio.
I created white rectangles on my card front by placing pieces of masking paper on my cardstock and then applying Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink with a blending tool.

The Essentials by Ellen Totally Awesome stamps create the perfect sentiments inside my white rectangles (I actually measured the masking paper to make sure but sometimes it's still a surprise when it works, LOL!)

And to add the abstract flowers, I misted the flower stamp with the Patina Color Shine and stamped. It's a little messy but I love the effect and I love the way it shimmers! To help contain the over spray, I mist my stamps in my paper wastebasket.

Thanks for stopping by and hope your Sunday is lovely!

Hugs!
Carly

foiled splatter with minc reactive mist

this weekend was all about shiny things in my craft room! i treated myself to new pretty pink posh sequins (including rose gold), light pink foil and minc reactive mist.
i started with a little distress ink watercolor.
next i sprayed my panel with reactive mist. the mist comes out in a very powerful, heavy spray so i found it best to spray from higher up. and the mist is very sticky so make sure to clean up the extra splatter quickly.

before you can apply the foil and run it through your laminator, the reactive mist has to dry completely. if you don't let it dry, which of course i didn't the first time, it smears into a messy blob like this:
my second try worked much better:
after foiling, i stamped and embossed "thanks" from the essentials by ellen hello gorgeous set.
my embossing was a little splotchy due to the foil underneath so i touched up with a versamark pen and more embossing powder.
i love the mist and i can't wait to use it with stencils.

hope you had an awesome weekend!

happy world card making day + shaker card

happy world card making day! i'm celebrating today by sending out a few cards to friends, including this one that is completely inspired by julie ebersole's adorable hello monday card this week. i loved julie's card so much i had to make one too!
-to create the insert for my shaker, i used ranger watercolor paper cut to 2-1/2 x 4, a my favorite things ray stencil and cracked pistachio distress ink. i applied the ink with a mini ink blending tool and then sprayed a little heidi swapp gold lame color shine on top. then i stamped "sending" from the mama elephant happy everything set and "hugs" from the mama elephant bella letters set.

-for my shaker confetti, i stamped and colored the heart from the lawn fawn milk and cookies set. then i die cut it from the coordinating die set. i also die cut taylored expressions love confetti and hearts & stars from essentials by ellen designer dies home & hearth, all from gold foil paper.

-with my fuse tool, i made a 2-3/4 x 4-1/4 pocket, leaving the top open. i inserted the background, colored hearts, confetti and lots of gold sequins, then i sealed the pocket.

-then i adhered the pocket to a 3-1/2 x 5 card made from solar white cardstock.

have a great day!
