winnie & walter share the love day 3

welcome to day 3 of the winnie & walter share the love week featuring essentials by ellen! today's challenge is background building. check out the awesome cards on the winnie & walter blog here and here is the card i created:
i was inspired to create a background like this dress i've been seeing all over pinterest:
i started by stamping the winnie & walter mum in versafine onyx black.
while that was drying (versafine is my absolute favorite but it does need an extra minute), i stamped various flowers in permanent ink on masking paper.
i cut out my flower masks and used them to finish my layered floral design.
i used clean color markers to color my mum and can i just say again, i love those clean color real brush markers! they are so vibrant and blend so beautifully but i didn't fall in love with them until i found the right cardstock. in my opinion, smooth bristol is really the only paper for clean color markers.

sorry for the tangent...anyways then i stamped a butterfly from the essentials by ellen up the happy with stazon ink on acetate.
after the stazon ink was dry, i used ranger alcohol inks that i dried in a palette and a blending pen to color the backside. this is a super easy technique but just make sure to color the backside because the blending pen will take the stazon ink right off.
i die cut the butterfly, folded  it in half and used glossy accents to adhere just the middle to the card.

finally i added the "hello" sentiment from the essentials by ellen mondo magnolia set.
happy wednesday!
carly
